LCDS is a licensed, non-profit, cooperative Kindergarten and Preschool program. LCDS was established in 1972, by a group of parents looking for educational alternatives for their children. We provide a well defined quality early childhood education program within an interactive, dynamic, language rich and fun learning environment that involves family and community. We believe children learn best through play and various experiences in the community. We value each child’s individual development as well as making their learning a positive experience. Our program provides opportunities for self directed activities throughout the day including many play center’s such as the dramatic play house centre, blocks, manipulative play, sensory play, Art, early literacy and Gross motor activities indoor and outdoor. We also include Teacher directed activities that follow the Kindergarten curriculum including mathematics, science, English Language arts and literature, social studies, fine arts, and physical education and wellness. LCDS is a parent run cooperative program and is a registered not for profit organization established under the societies act. Parents are asked to volunteer in the classroom, for field trips, board and committee positions to assist with operations, classroom cleaning, raising funds through small fundraisers, Bingo and Casinos.
